BRUNA’S POSITIVE IMPACT FUND

BRUNA’S POSITIVE IMPACT FUND

At BRUNA, we truly believe that the beauty of our jewelry lies in the wonders of nature and the skilled craftsmanship of our artisans.

Each and every piece is infused with the passion, talent, and hard work of these individuals, who are dedicated to crafting exquisite pieces that capture the essence of nature's beauty.

For this reason, we are committed to protecting and conserving natural resources, and to making our contribution so that the jewelry industry becomes a source of dignified work for all.

We're committed to using our business and community as a force for good, and to ensure that we're giving back as much as (strike that, more than!) we take.

That's why we've established our Positive Impact Fund, with ambitious goals that contribute to our vision: “create jewelry with a positive impact on ecosystems”.

We're honored to have this opportunity, and we hope that together we can create a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

OUR GOALS

01- PROTECTING AND RESTORING THE NATURAL ECOSYSTEM

Conserve 500 hectares of land, rivers, and/or oceans by 2030

At BRUNA, we recognize that nature has inherent value in its own right. In addition, the variety of living beings on Earth, known as biodiversity, plays a crucial role in supporting life. If some species, even tiny ones like bees, were to decline or disappear, we would no longer have access to important services provided by healthy ecosystems including clean air and water, fertile soil for growing crops, pollination, and flood prevention. This is why we are committed to contributing to the conservation and/or restoration of 500 hectares of land, rivers, and/or oceans and their ecosystems by 2030.

02- CHALLENGING AND CHAMPIONING A BETTER JEWELRY INDUSTRY

Improve the life of workers involved in artisanal and small-scale mining activities

The jewelry industry relies heavily on raw materials sourced from communities in developing and emerging economies, including precious metals and gemstones. However, miners often struggle to break free from the poverty cycle, which makes supporting their communities all the more critical. To this end, we are committed to positively impacting the lives of workers involved in artisanal and small-scale mining activities, through partnerships with relevant non-profit organizations. Our ultimate goal is ensuring that the jewelry sector becomes a source of dignified work for all.

03- INSPIRING & EMPOWERING THE BRUNA COMMUNITY

Support the dreams of admirable changemakers in the BRUNA community

At BRUNA, we are eager to do our best to make a difference. But we can’t change the world alone. This is why we love surrounding ourselves with a community of changemakers who are on our same mission. And this is why, through the Positive Impact Fund, we will support admirable community members or organizations who are making a difference. The funds will support education, entrepreneurial activities, and civic engagement initiatives.

PROJECTS SUPPORTED

Since 2019, we have donated over € 200,000 to trusted charities that are fighting for a better future for all. Explore the projects we’ve supported so far below.

Saving the bees with the Jane Goodall Institute Austria

The bee population is declining due to the consequences of human activities. For the second year in a row, on the occasion of Give Back Friday, in 2022 we partnered with the Jane Goodall Institute Austria and donated circa €30,000 to contribute to their holistic reforestation and beekeeping project in Western Uganda to protect biodiversity, on which we all depend for survival.

Learn more about this project here.

Protecting the last wild chimpanzees with the Jane Goodall Institute Austria

Dr. Jane Goodall is one of the world's most famous conservationists and scientists. Her pioneering study of wild chimpanzees revolutionized how we think about both chimpanzees and ourselves.

Between 2021 and 2022, we donated over €71,000 to the Jane Goodall Institute Austria to protect the last wild chimpanzees, preserve their habitats, and strengthen local communities.

Supporting Ukrainian refugees with Caritas

To show our solidarity to the millions of Ukrainian women and children who were forced to leave their homes, in 2022 BRUNA donated €10,000 to Caritas.

Our donation helps refugees in arrival centers in Austria, providing a warm and comfortable transitory space and healthy food and drinks. It also assists Caritas' partner organizations, mostly in Romania, Poland, and Hungary, where refugees find their first safe haven.

Offsetting carbon emissions with Climate Neutral

As a Climate Neutral Certified brand, offset 100% of our residual emissions by investing in climate crisis solutions. In 2022, we spent over €40,000 for the purchasing of carbon credits, supporting nature-based solutions and renewable energy technologies around the world including the Agrocortex Project in Brazil; the Dempsey Ridge Wind Project in the USA; and the Haicheng Landfill Gas Collection Project in China. Supporting Agricultural Education with Kindernothilfe Austria

Founded in 1996, Kindernothilfe Austria is a non-profit aiming to give as many children as possible a better life in the world's poorest regions. Projects for sustainable development, the elimination of poverty, and humanitarian aid have been the focus of their work in more than 30 countries worldwide for more than 25 years.

In 2022, we donated €10,000 to support the agricultural education and training of 4,500 children and youth in Tacobamba and Sucre, Bolivia, to teach these young people and their communities about the environment, water, forests, and the climate crisis, as a way to fight against malnourishment and maternal and infant mortality.

Advocating for change with Global 2000

GLOBAL 2000, an independent Austrian environmental organization and a member of Friends of the Earth, is the largest international environmental network.

Since 1982, GLOBAL 2000 has been working on radical social themes to uncover potential hazards for humans and the environment. In 2022, we have donated €10,500 to help the organization closely monitor and work towards bettering the development of environmental policy in Austria.

Preserving wildlife with WWF

For 60 years, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has worked to help people and nature thrive. It is the world’s leading conservation organization, working to help local communities conserve the natural resources they depend upon, transform markets and policies toward sustainability, and protect and restore species and their habitats.

BRUNA has donated over €20,000 to WWF Austria, contributing to WWF’s vision to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature.

Fulfilling children’s dreams with Stiftung Kindertraum

The joy in a child's eyes is the greatest gift. Every year, Stiftung Kindertraum makes around 200 children's dreams come true. In 2019, BRUNA made a contribution with the hope to bring new energy and confidence to families of children affected by serious illnesses.

Sharing hope with Sterntalerhof

Sterntalerhof is a children's hospice and harbourage for families with chronically and terminally ill children. The organization’s mission is to give a feeling of comfort, hope, confidence and zest for life to children and their families. In 2021, BRUNA donated €5,000 to their cause.
